Access & Drone Info
Access
moderate
Everyone on the property needs a ticket; there is no single-day option. 2026 pricing was $582 for members and around $750 for the public. The weekend is physically demanding at 6,500 feet in sub-freezing conditions. The railroad will not over-fire a locomotive to make smoke on request. Fly into Las Vegas rather than Salt Lake City. There is a free scholarship for photographers aged 18 to 30.
Informational only, not legal or travel advice. Visa, permit, drone and access rules differ by nationality and site and change often, so confirm with the official authority (linked where shown) before you travel, shoot or fly.
Drone
Informational only, not legal advice. Rules change quickly — always verify with the managing authority before flying. Airspace authorization and land-owner permission are separate: clearance to use the airspace never grants permission to take off, land, or operate from the ground below it. Data last refreshed Jun 11, 2026.
