Access & Drone Info
Access
moderate
There is no cell coverage in the canyon. Wildfire and rockslide closures are routine rather than exceptional in this valley — check status the morning you travel. The 2026 photo charters are the Winter Photo Special on 20 and 21 February (RGS No. 20, $475 per day plus $100 for the night shoot) and Animas Canyon After Dark on 19 to 21 October with Pete Lerro, capped at 35 and phone-camera only.
Informational only, not legal or travel advice. Visa, permit, drone and access rules differ by nationality and site and change often, so confirm with the official authority (linked where shown) before you travel, shoot or fly.
Drone
Informational only, not legal advice. Rules change quickly — always verify with the managing authority before flying. Airspace authorization and land-owner permission are separate: clearance to use the airspace never grants permission to take off, land, or operate from the ground below it.
